Popular among Russian buyers, chips of the American brand Pringles began to disappear from the shelves of the largest stores in the country, learned RBC. The Lenta and Verny retail chains reported minimal product stocks, while Magnit reported that they were completely depleted.
Retailers also told the publication about plans to replace disappearing Pringles with domestic products, including chips from the Rostov-based Bruto brand. According to RBC, some Russian retail chains are still selling Pringles chips made in Poland in June 2022 (already after Kellogg’s, the manufacturer of Pringles, announced the cessation of supplies of chips to Russia).
The Septorg company, one of the Russian importers of Kellogg’s, explained to RBC that Pringles began to be imported to Russia through parallel imports two months ago. At the same time, snacks are not included in the list of goods approved by the government for parallel import into the country.
In March, representatives Kellogg’s announced that they would continue to supply only “basic food products” to Russia, emphasizing that Pringles chips do not belong to this category. Then to a similar restriction of presence on the Russian market resorted to Nestle corporation.
