RBC: Gazprombank and BTS-Most intend to build roads bypassing Nizhny Novgorod for 170 billion rubles

Two toll roads bypassing Nizhny Novgorod were proposed to be built by Gazprombank and BTS-Most for 170 billion rubles, learned RBC. On September 16, the companies submitted a concession initiative to the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the partners plan to recoup the investment in 30 years.

“The project will make it possible to move part of the freight and passenger transport outside the city, which helps to solve the problem of traffic jams for residents,” Gazprombank commented on the potential of the project. According to the deputy of BTS-Most, Alexander Kozarenko, the construction of the routes will improve transport links between Nizhny Novgorod and other regions of Russia.

Gazprombank clarified that the construction will take about seven years. The company plans to return investments in the first, eastern bypass in 30 years, in the northern bypass in 29.5 years. The length of the eastern route will be 45 km, the northern route will be 39.5 km.

On September 1, Gazprombank and BTS-Most also sent to the Nizhny Novgorod government a concession initiative for the Balakhna Bypass project – a 24 km highway, the cost of which is estimated at 23 billion rubles. In December last year, it was specified that the cost of the eastern and northern bypasses would amount to 147 billion rubles. In June this year, the price was adjusted to 197 billion rubles. It was also reported that the construction of highways could be completed as early as 2027 and 2028.
