RBC: car dealer Avilon will acquire a Volkswagen plant in Kaluga

The car dealer Avilon became the main contender for the plant of the German concern Volkswagen in Kaluga. The final approval of the transaction is expected on March 3. This was reported RBC citing two sources familiar with the deal.
The work of the Volkswagen plant in Kaluga was suspended in the spring of 2022 due to the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine. Its maximum capacity is up to 225 thousand cars per year. It was launched in 2007. They produced Volkswagen Tiguan and Polo cars, as well as Skoda Rapid.
In the third quarter of 2022, Volkswagen admitted sale of a part of assets in Russia. In February “b” wrotethat AFK Sistema is interested in buying the plant in Kaluga.
