AvtoVAZ” will exit the capital of the United Automotive Technologies (OAT) group. About it informs RBC with reference to a source close to OAT. The information was confirmed by the vice-president of the automaker for procurement, Mikhail Sosnin.

OAT is the largest manufacturer of original spare parts and components for the automotive industry in Russia. From the end of 2021 “AvtoVAZ» owns 40% of the group. After the transaction, another 45% remained with Kamaz, and 15% – with a subsidiary of Kamaz, Spetsavtokam. The interlocutor of the publication claims that the automaker will transfer its stake in OAT to Kamaz, which will solely control the group.

According to Sosnin, the deal is cashless. He noted that the exit of AvtoVAZ from the capital of OAT was predetermined by the shareholder agreement, which was signed by the French group Renault. In May 2022, 67.7% of AvtoVAZ shares owned by Renault have crossed to the Russian Federal State Unitary Enterprise “NAMI”.

In 2015, AvtoVAZ tried to acquire the entire OAT. The reason was the disagreement between the automaker and the supplier on the cost of components. Due to a shortage of components in November 2014, AvtoVAZ was forced to suspend the production of Lada Granta and Lada Kalina for several days. On March 23, 2015, Rostec, which owned OAT through Oboronprom, and AvtoVAZ signed a memorandum on the main conditions for acquiring the group’s assets.

In 2021, as informed the interlocutor of Vedomosti, the deal to sell 40% of OAT to AvtoVAZ was also cashless. According to the source, the automaker claimed a share for OAT’s debts, which were formed back in the days when the group was owned by Oboronprom. In 2020, Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov noted that OAT’s debt to AvtoVAZ was about 10 billion rubles.
