The Russian airline Aeroflot sent its aircraft for repair and maintenance to Iran for the first time. According to RBC, it was decided to send the Airbus A330-300 wide-body airliner to Iran, where employees of the Iranian carrier Mahan Air will deal with its repair.
“The key task of sending the first A330 for repair to Mahan Air is the maintenance of the landing gear of the aircraft,” sources say. RBC.
Aeroflot notes that Mahan Air has the necessary certificates and material base to carry out maintenance of the Airbus A330-300 aircraft. The Russian airline is confident that the Iranian provider will “perform maintenance with a high level of quality.”
Previously, Aeroflot used the capacities of other providers for such purposes, in particular the Hong Kong-based HAECO. However, due to Western sanctions, continued cooperation with most of the former partners turned out to be impossible.
In February there was a threat termination maintenance of aircraft of Russian airlines in Turkey. Then the largest Turkish operator and provider of ground handling services at airports Havas warned contractors about the risks of servicing imported aircraft owned by carriers from Russia (including Aeroflot and its subsidiary Pobeda).
