Raiffeisenbank submitted four applications to Rospatent to register new trademarks. This follows from the bulletin of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property, noted Frank Media. The bank told the publication that they updated one of the logos to expand the capabilities of the trademarks.
Applications for registration were submitted on September 5. The first two trademarks read “R Bank” and “R Bank” in the Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) group’s signature colors of yellow and black. The other two have similar inscriptions, but in black and white.
“We have updated one of our existing logos and registered a new version with Rospatent. This will expand the possibilities for using one of our trademarks,” the bank’s press service said in response to a request from Frank Media.
In February, the US Treasury began an investigation into the Austrian group Raiffeisen Bank International in connection with its Russian business. In March, the European Central Bank demanded from the RBI to close its business in Russia, Reuters reported, citing sources. That same month the bank informed about plans to curtail business activity in Russia, as well as sell the local division or withdraw it from the group structure. In August, RBI Governor Johann Strobl informedthat the group has postponed the spin-off of the Russian business or its sale to the end of 2023.
Financial Times citing sources wrotethat by February 2023 Raiffeisenbank serviced almost half of all external payments in Russia. In March, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NACP) of Ukraine contributed Raiffeisen Bank International to the list of international “war sponsors”.
