Qiwi denied mass blocking of online wallets – Kommersant

The Qiwi group has responded to messages on social networks about the massive and unreasonable blocking of Qiwi wallets. The press service of the group told Kommersant that this information is not true. Qiwi representatives noted that yesterday, August 2, the group strengthened measures to protect the funds of wallet users and is now requesting additional information from some users, whose share does not exceed 0.1% of the total.
“Information stuffing about the massive and unreasonable blocking of ”Qiwi wallets” is not true. We block a wallet for security purposes when we notice suspicious activity in it or the threat that third parties have gained access to the wallet,” the message says.
The press service noted that users can contact Qiwi support if the wallet is blocked, but its owner has not made any dubious transactions.
“Yesterday we strengthened measures to protect the data and money of wallet users and are now requesting additional information and documents on some users. If everything is in order, the blocking is promptly removed. The enhanced security measures affected less than 0.1% of our active customer base,” the group said.
Messages about the possible blocking of online wallets appeared earlier in the official Qiwi community on the VKontakte social network. Users complained about the sudden and unreasonable blocking of accounts, difficulties in replenishing and withdrawing funds.
