Kazakh airline Qazaq Air announced on the temporary suspension of flights on the routes Astana-Novosibirsk and Ust-Kamenogorsk-Novosibirsk. The Astana-Novosibirsk flight was also canceled today, October 30. The airline cited the failure to issue permits by the Russian aviation authorities for international scheduled flights to these destinations as the reason.
Source RBC, close to the Russian aviation authorities, explained that the Qazaq Air permit was not issued in order to maintain parity of commercial rights for Russian airlines. The press service of the Federal Air Transport Agency declined to comment.
In March Qazaq Air announced about the cancellation of flights to Russia. Then the decision was made because of the notification of the insurance company “about the failure to provide insurance coverage on the territory of Russia and in its airspace.” Almost immediately flights have been restored.
