Putin: there are enough people who want to join the Sakhalin-2 project

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that a large number of issues related to the allocation of resources for the Sakhalin-2 oil and gas project should be resolved in the near future. According to him, there are enough Russian and foreign companies willing to take part in the project.

“As for Sakhalin-2, we have enough people willing to join this project: both foreigners and Russian legal entities. The issue of distribution of resources from this field is connected with our obligations, including the work of operators at this enterprise, a significant amount goes to Japan, South Korea, but, of course, domestic consumers are of paramount importance to us,” the president said during the meeting. on social and economic development of Kamchatka.

In June, the Russian authorities transferred the Sakhalin-2 operator to Russian jurisdiction. Instead of Sakhalin Energy, it was the Sakhalin Energy structure created in Russia. Foreign shareholders had to decide whether to continue cooperation or withdraw from the project. In the event of a sale of assets, it was assumed that the money would be frozen in accounts in Russia.

About leaving the project informed British-Dutch oil and gas company Shell. Russia approved the participation of Japanese companies in the project Mitsubishi and Mitsui. They received a share of 10% and 12.5% ​​respectively. In spite of solution G7 countries to introduce a price ceiling for Russian oil, Japanese agency Kyodo reportedthat these restrictions will not affect the price of oil from the Sakhalin-2 project.
