Russian President Vladimir Putin, during his message to the Federal Assembly, said that thanks to a strong balance of payments, Russia does not need to borrow abroad, “bow, beg for money.”
The head of state noted that Russian banks operate stably and steadily, and have a sufficient margin of safety. In general, last year the banking sector worked with a profit of 203 billion rubles, Vladimir Putin added.
“According to estimates, already in the second quarter of this year, inflation in Russia will approach the target level of 4%. Let me remind you that in some EU countries there are already 17%, 12%, 20%. We have almost 4%, well, 5% – there the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance sort things out among themselves, but it will be close to the target indicator,” Mr. Putin said.
At the same time, the president announced the need to develop new sources of financing and investment. According to him, it is necessary to stimulate the inflow of investments into the economy from the long-term savings of citizens by creating an appropriate program.
