President Vladimir Putin on meeting with members of the government instructed to deliver books and textbooks to the libraries of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions “as quickly as possible”. According to him, more than 2.5 million copies of publications will be purchased and delivered to libraries in new regions in the near future. Among the books are Russian classical literature, folk tales, works by Zakhar Prilepin.
Vladimir Putin noted that this decision is related to the upcoming academic year, at the beginning of which schoolchildren should already have all the necessary books and textbooks.
“And of course, it is necessary to provide access for the residents of Donbass and Novorossiya to Internet resources with electronic and audio books, so that everyone can get acquainted with new book releases or re-read the classics in Russian, plunge into the world of well-known literary heroes,” the president said.
According to Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov, the libraries of the new regions will also receive books by Zakhar Prilepin, collections of Russian folk tales, as well as “immortal classics – Pushkin, Lermontov, Gogol, Turgenev, Tolstoy, Chekhov, poems by Gamzatov, military poetry by Tvardovsky.”
During the meeting, Vladimir Putin also declaredthat the Ukrainian authorities and “their Western masters” are pursuing a policy of “destroying everything Russian.” The head of state also said that attempts by Ukraine and other countries to pursue a policy of canceling Russian writers have no future.
