Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed that the rise in prices for domestic cars is too serious. Over the year, Russian cars have risen in price by 40%. He explained the situation by the rise in price of foreign components. According to the head of state, the cost of cars will decrease as production increases.
“The most important thing is to create your own platforms and develop them. It takes time. I am sure that this will be the case. And prices will go down,” the president expressed hope during the “Results of the Year.” “And AvtoVAZ, I must say, copes with the quantity, but the more there is, the lower the price,” added Mr. Putin. According to him, the price has increased by “40%” – the price tag “hasn’t gone into space.”
According to Vladimir Putin, many questions arose when European brands left Russia. The President stated that “we have ‘outtrusted’ our so-called partners,” and as a result the auto components industry has been virtually lost. At the same time, according to him, those who thought that “the Russian auto industry would collapse” are disappointed: “Nothing collapsed here.”
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, sales of passenger cars fell in November compared to October due to a decrease in sales from AvtoVAZ. However, in December demand is expected to be a record for the year. Meanwhile, the cost of car parts on ad aggregators and in catalogs for insurance repairs of passenger cars grew since the beginning of the year by 7–17%.
