Putin called for ensuring the safety of the Eastern training ground in the conditions of the Northern Military District

Russian President Vladimir Putin called for special security at the Eastern railway site in the context of a special operation. According to the head of state, the test site could become the target of Ukrainian attacks.
“We need to keep in mind the conditions in which we live today, the whole country lives. The enemy is trying to reach, you know this, the most important infrastructure facilities of the Eastern training ground. We must be very careful,” Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with representatives of enterprises and social facilities of Russian Railways OJSC (quote from “Interfax”).
The President noted that ensuring the safety of the test site lies primarily with law enforcement agencies, special services and the Russian National Guard. However, he noted that “due vigilance” should be exercised by all landfill workers.
The eastern range, more than 17 thousand km long, is located within the boundaries of four railways: Krasnoyarsk, East Siberian, Transbaikal and Far Eastern. In 2024, Russian Railways plans to complete the main work on the second stage of expansion of the landfill. By 2032, the landfill’s carrying capacity is planned to increase to 255 million tons.
On November 29, an explosion occurred in the Severomuysky tunnel on the Baikal-Amur Mainline. On the Itykit-Okushikan stretch in Buryatia, while moving through the tunnel, smoke occurred in one of the tanks with diesel fuel. Some of the cars from the stopped train were taken outside. As part of this case, the FSB detained a citizen of Belarus who acted under the control of the Ukrainian intelligence services.
