Putin awarded the deceased actor and director Puskepalis with the Order of Courage

President Vladimir Putin posthumously awarded the Order of Courage to the head of the Russian State Academic Drama Theater named after F. Volkov and actor Sergei Puskepalis. He was awarded for “for courage and courage shown in the performance of civic duty”, according to decree. The decree on awarding is posted on the official portal of legal information.

56-year-old Sergey Puskepalis died in an accident on September 20, 2022. The Ford Transit minibus, in which Mr. Puskepalis was traveling, crashed into a truck in the oncoming lane.

Sergey Puskepalis worked as a director on the stages of Oleg Tabakov’s studio theater and Sovremennik, the Magnitogorsk Drama Theater named after A.S. Pushkin. He was deputy artistic director of the Gorky Moscow Art Theater for creative work.

As an actor, Sergey Puskepalis starred in the works of director Alexei Popogrebsky “Simple Things”, “How I Spent This Summer” and “Silver Bear”, as well as in the films “Battle for Sevastopol”, “Metro”.

Writer Zakhar Prilepin saidthat Sergei Puskepalis came to the Donetsk People’s Republic and “helped financially.” Sergey Puskepalis himself saidthat he was acquainted with the head of the DNR, Alexander Zakharchenko. The car in which he died was intended for the needs of the front.
