Putin and Tokayev at the meeting discussed the creation of a “triple gas union” of Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan

Presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan Vladimir Putin and Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev spoke about the creation of a “triple gas union” between Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan at a meeting in the Kremlin on November 28. This was announced by the press secretary of the President of Kazakhstan Ruslan Zheldibay.

“There are some questions from the media regarding the visit of the head of state to Moscow. In this regard, it should be noted that during the talks in the Kremlin between the presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia, it was about creating a “tripartite gas union” consisting of Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan in order to coordinate actions in the transportation of Russian gas through the territories of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan,” wrote Ruslan Zheldibay on his Facebook page (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

November 28 in the Kremlin passed negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. This is Mr. Tokayev’s first trip abroad since his re-election to the presidency for a new seven-year term on November 20. At the meeting, Vladimir Putin said that Russia would redirect exports to new markets. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in turn, promised to protect Russian investments in the economy of his country. At the same time, he notedthat in relations between Russia and Kazakhstan there are issues related to the gas sector, but Astana does not dramatize this.

In June, the national company QazaqGaz and Gazprom signed an agreement to increase the processing of gas from Kakhastan in Russia. As a result, the volume of refining at the Orenburg refinery will increase up to 11 billion cubic meters m per year.
