Porokhovshchikov’s house in Moscow was saved from destruction: it was given to “a man from the world of cinema”

The house of Alexander Porokhovshchikov on Old Arbat is being destroyed, valuable things are disappearing – this information has been circulating in the media for 11 years. We went to Starokonyushenny Lane, where the old mansion is located, and unexpectedly learned that the house, it turns out, already has new owners.

Alexander Porokhovshchikov died 11 years ago. Since then, everyone has forgotten about the wooden tower on Starokonyushenny Lane. The monument of federal significance was slowly but surely being destroyed.

Through the cloudy glass you can’t see what’s going on inside. The wooden window frames were cracked. The plaster of the facade was peeling, the steps on the porch were cracked. There are notices on the house: “A hereditary fortune teller will remove the damage,” “I will buy a fluffy kitten.”

If after the actor’s death homeless people calmly moved into the house, now the situation has changed. The back of the mansion has been fenced off with a metal fence, and a guard is now sitting in the house itself, who at the time of my arrival was whileing away the time on the second floor balcony.

“I’ve been guarding this house for more than 5 years, in fact, I live here,” the pensioner shared. – So there are no homeless people or drug addicts for a long time, everyone has been dispersed. Otherwise everything would have been destroyed.

– It’s good that the fence was installed, – I strike up a conversation.

– So it’s not us. You see, an elite house was built, it is adjacent to the back wall of the mansion. Those who live there put up a fence.

The man admits that he works around the clock, so he equipped a room in the mansion.

– I set up the bed, it’s as comfortable as at home. There was no electricity or heating here. Now everything has been done, it’s good, it’s warm…

– Who was so generous that he installed electricity?

“So there will be a children’s film academy here,” the guard suddenly said. “Representatives of this organization came here and looked at where to equip workshops and halls. Everything is prepared to the highest standard. Very serious people. So in the foreseeable future everything will work.

– Someone bought the building?

– The building cannot be bought and it will not be given into private hands, this is a monument that has historical value. So the premises were given to a person from the world of cinema. I can’t name the name. But you know him, you often see him on TV.

– Mikhalkova, or what? – I suggested.

“But I didn’t tell you this,” the interlocutor waved his hands.

– But Porokhovshchikov wanted to open a museum here…

– Apparently, there will be no museum. His relatives come here periodically, some of them make trouble. Porokhovshchikov’s illegitimate daughter came. She was found after the death of the actor. Haven’t you heard of her? So she was eager to get inside. I didn’t let her in.

When asked to go inside, the guard snapped: “Journalists are also prohibited from entering.”

The housekeeper Porokhovshchikova once told me about what the house looks like inside. “There are so many rooms, you can’t even count them all,” the woman recalled. – On the ground floor in one part of the house there are seven rooms, on the other side there is a kitchen and a living room. On the top floor there are two offices and a staircase to the bedroom.”

At the same time, the interlocutor called this mansion cursed and complained that it was psychologically difficult to be there: “The guests were haunted by visions. Alexander Porokhovshchikov himself and his wife saw the shadow of a girl there. And the artist’s wife once said: “This house will take revenge on us, it’s alive, it takes everyone who lives here.”

The press service of Nikita Mikhalkov’s Academy of Cinematic and Theater Arts neither confirmed nor denied this information. Asked to send a request. After several hours of waiting, they replied: “We received the request, if there is a comment, we will come back.”
