The Polish company PKN ORLEN will demand compensation from Gazprom and Tatneft due to the cessation of oil and gas supplies, its CEO Daniel Obaitek said. He did not give the amount of compensation or other details.
“The Russians have stopped pumping oil to Poland … so we will resort to legal procedure and demand compensation for the damage,” he said in an interview with a private radio station (quoted by Reuters).
At the end of February Russia stopped oil supplies to Poland via the Druzhba pipeline. Prior to this, PKN Orlen imported about 10% of its oil via pipeline from Russia, the rest from other countries by sea. Orlen received oil under an agreement with Tatneft.
