Low-cost airline Pobeda will release branded backpacks that will correspond to the established dimensions of hand luggage (36x30x27 cm, about 29 liters). About this in an interview RBC said the general director of the company Dmitry Tyshchuk.
“Three five-liter bottles can easily fit into it and there is still room left, without any weight restrictions,” added Mr. Tyshchuk.
Dmitry Tyshchuk also said that the company compared the allowable volume of hand luggage of Pobeda and other low-cost airlines. According to him, it turned out to be higher than that of low-cost segment carriers – Wizz Air (40x30x20 cm, about 24 l), Ryanair (40x25x20 cm, about 20 l) and Smartavia (40x30x20 cm, about 24 l).
In addition, the head of Pobeda called the sale of branded backpacks “additional income for the airline.”
Strict restrictions on the carriage of hand luggage on Pobeda planes have repeatedly caused conflicts between passengers and airport employees. In January 2023, by decision of the Supreme Court, the airline softened rules and excluded indications of dimensions for handbags and backpacks.
