Philips announces change of CEO

Frans van Houten, the current president and chief executive officer of the Dutch multinational company Royal Philips, will leave his post on October 15. His position will be taken by Roy Jacobs, who joined the company in 2010, should from a posting on the company’s website.
This decision of the board of directors must be approved at an extraordinary meeting of shareholders, which will be held on 30 September. Houten will be appointed as an advisor to the company during the transition period until April 30, 2023.
It is specified that the reason for leaving the position is the end of the third term, during which Houten was at the head of the company. “Of course, it is always very difficult to leave after so many years of building a company and putting all of yourself into it. But this is a planned stage, it is quite logical to transfer leadership after 12 years, ”he commented on his upcoming departure. Houten joined the company in 1986, in 2004 he headed the department of Philips Semiconductors (now it is an independent company NXP Semiconductors, supplies semiconductors), and since 2010 he has become the head of the entire Philips company.
Jacobs joined the company in 2010, and in early 2020, he took over as head of the Counseling and Patient and Customer Services team during the pandemic. And in 2021, he was involved in a major recall of ventilators, ventilators and sleep apnea devices, which recalled about 4 million devices due to “identified potential health risks” in their use.
