Pfizer and Moderna will receive US approval for new anti-Covid boosters – Kommersant

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) could issue an authorization as soon as tonight, September 11, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) tomorrow. Regulators are also expected to approve seasonal influenza vaccines for the current epidemic season and a vaccine against human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV). Once approved by the FDA and CDC, manufacturers will be able to ship the vaccines to pharmacies, hospitals and health insurance companies.

The current COVID-19 vaccine booster distribution campaign will be the first in the United States since the national health emergency ended in May. If during the pandemic the US government itself purchased anti-Covid vaccinations from manufacturers and distributed them for free vaccination to pharmacies, hospitals, insurance companies, etc., then this time the companies themselves will handle the distribution. Holders of state health insurance such as Medicare, as well as holders of insurance from private medical institutions and networks, will be able to receive a booster vaccine free of charge.
