Personal messages may appear in Threads – Kommersant

[ad_1]

The American corporation Meta (recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) is testing a new function in the microblogging service Threads, thanks to which users will be able to exchange personal messages. When sending messages, the private messaging service of the extremist and banned Meta Instagram will be used.

The new feature will not be a full-fledged messaging service, but will allow you to initiate writing messages directly from Threads. However, to check incoming messages, as well as when replying to a letter, you will still need to go to Instagram (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned).

Some users have already noticed how, when entering the application, a new “Messages” section has appeared; it is located above the profiles of other users, approximately where “Mentions” used to be. The extremist and banned Meta confirmed the development of the feature, but did not say when it will become available to all users. Threads is currently used by over 130 million people.
