Concerns about the possible closure of the Russian market for Armenia are misplaced. This opinion was expressed by the Prime Minister of the Republic Nikol Pashinyan in an interview with the public television of Armenia.
“Where does this hypothesis come from that Russia has closed, is closing or will close its market before us? We are members of the EAEU, and our economic relations are regulated,” he said (quote according to RIA Novosti).
Pashinyan called on Armenian manufacturers to maintain high product quality standards. In this case, “there will be no problems with closing or opening markets,” the prime minister added.
According to Pashinyan, currently all problems associated with the export of cognac to Russia have already been resolved. He clarified that this situation is not political in nature, since it arose much earlier.
Previously RBC with reference to Russian alcohol importers reported about problems with the supply of Armenian cognac. In particular, due to the tightening of inspections of cargo trucks, a queue of such vehicles with goods from Armenia has accumulated at the Verkhniy Lars checkpoint. According to ArmenPress, these checks started back in March-April this year. As the customs attache of the Armenian Embassy in Russia Vahan Hakobyan reported, the checks were initiated in connection with a number of violations, including counterfeit cognacs.
