Part of the text was removed from the book “Everything is bad” because of the law against the identification of the USSR and Nazi Germany

The book by the American blogger and publicist Mark Manson “Everything Is F*cked: A Book About Hope”, which is published in Russia by Alpina Publisher, was published without some fragments. Texts that violate the law prohibiting the identification of the role of the USSR and Nazi Germany were removed from it, placing gray stripes in their place. To Alpina Publisher Telegram channel “Beware the News” reported that the publishing house follows the current legislation, and under the footnotes “it is clearly indicated on what basis a part of the text was removed – in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation.”

In April 2022, President Vladimir Putin signed a law on fines for publicly identifying the role of the USSR and Nazi Germany during World War II. Punishment provides fines from 1,000 to 2,000 rubles, for officials – from 1,000 to 4,000 rubles, for legal entities – from 10,000 to 50,000 rubles. This law began to be discussed because of the books of Mr. Manson, reports Telegram channel. Then State Duma deputy Elena Yampolskaya (United Russia) stated that she came to the need for restrictions after reading the book The Subtle Art of Indifference.

As of 2019, Mark Manson has written three books. The Subtle Art of Giving a Fuck reached number six on The New York Times bestseller list. He published his first book, Models: Attract Women Through Honesty, in 2011 at his own expense.

In July 2021, the President of the Russian Federation signed a law prohibiting public identification of the goals and actions of the USSR and Nazi Germany in World War II. It is also forbidden to deny the decisive role of the Soviet people in the victory over fascism.
