Parents of schoolchildren will be told whether to give children pocket money

The Ministry of Education announced that within three days, from October 17 to October 20, a financial literacy marathon will be held in Russia. Parents of preschoolers and schoolchildren, as well as teachers, will be able to take part in it.

Experts in financial literacy, financial consultants, authors of books and manuals on this topic will answer questions, give lectures, conduct seminars and master classes. As part of the marathon, it is planned to discuss issues of personal financial planning in families and the possibility of making savings, methods of financial protection against fraudsters, as well as topics such as how much pocket money to give children a week, whether they need to open credit cards, what financial transactions can and should be trust children and teenagers.

According to the Ministry of Education, such a marathon will help parents communicate with their children on financial topics. This is largely due to the fact that this academic year teaching the basics of financial literacy has become mandatory in grades 1-9 in all schools in the country. From the next academic year, this subject will be included in the school course “Social Studies” in grades 10-11.
