Ozon will start charging sellers for prohibited goods – Kommersant

Starting July 3, Ozon will begin charging unscrupulous sellers for listing banned items. Thus, the retailer wants to tighten the fight against fakes, TASS was told in its press service.

The fee will be charged not only for goods during the initial moderation, but also for those already sold on the marketplace. We are talking about goods that are prohibited for sale by law, or those that violate the rules of the site – for example, those with no “18+” marking. The decision to pay can be challenged, but for this period the goods will be hidden from buyers.

“This measure will additionally protect customers from buying low-quality and dangerous goods, as well as fakes that enter the site in circumvention of the marketplace rules. As a result, this will increase customer loyalty and trust in the platform,” Ozon is sure.

In the first quarter of 2023, Ozon for the first time in history came out for net profit. The retailer increased its trade turnover by 71% yoy to RUB 303 billion. Its net profit was 10.7 billion. Sales volumes of sellers increased by 93%, to 179.3 million orders.
