Russia and Mongolia have agreed on duty-free supplies of cashmere and the removal of logistics barriers, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko told reporters. According to her, the first online sellers of cashmere, which will be imported duty-free from Mongolia, will be the Ozon marketplace and the Snow Queen chain of stores. Russia approved Mongolia has duty-free import of certain agricultural products, Ms. Abramchenko announced yesterday, October 23.
“As part of the agreement on the supply of cashmere to Russia, we visited the largest factory for the production of finished products: Mongolian cashmere, Gobi brand. We agreed right here at the factory that we would prepare a road map,” said Ms. Abramchenko following the results of the 25th intergovernmental commission in Ulaanbaatar (quoted from RIA Novosti).
As the Deputy Prime Minister clarified, Ozon was the first to show interest in online sales of Mongolian cashmere. “Colleagues from the Snow Queen are also working with us today; they are also ready to act as a partner in the project,” she noted.
In 2022, trade turnover between Russia and Mongolia grew by almost 42% and reached a record $2.6 billion. According to Victoria Abramchenko, this year the trade turnover of the two countries in national currencies has more than doubled compared to last year.
