Otkritie is working on the sale of a stake in QIWI

Otkritie Bank may soon sell its stake in QIWI to a private investor, said the head of the bank, Mikhail Zadornov, at a press conference. According to him, QIWI has already found an investor.
“We are now working to ensure that the package (shares.— “b”) QIWI also found an investor. And maybe this deal will be implemented in the very near future, ”said Mr. Zadornov (quoted from TASS).
As of April 29, 2022, FC Otkritie bank owned 41% of class B shares, which gave it 13.7% of the vote. In the summer, the company of the largest shareholder and chairman of the board of directors of QIWI, Sergey Solonin, Dalliance Services Company, offered to buy QIWI securities from the company’s foreign shareholders at $2.2–2.7 per share. However, Otkritie was sanctioned, which confused foreign investors.
Mr. Zadornov pointed out back in 2021 that the stake in QIWI was not strategic, the bank plans to sell shares.
Today, December 27, the bank released from the capital of FC Otkritie. It was bought by VTB. The President of Otkritie predicted profit for 2022 above 40 billion rubles. Mr. Zadornov will leave from his position at the beginning of 2023, the ex-head of Unicredit Bank, former deputy chairman of the board of the Central Bank Mikhail Alekseev will become the chairman of the board of Otkritie Bank.
