Oreo manufacturer believes that the company was singled out from a number of food manufacturers by a boycott due to work in Russia

The president of the American Mondelez International (owns the brands Alpen Gold, Oreo, Milka, Toblerone) in Europe, Vincenz Gruber, said that their company is singled out and treated differently than other brands still operating in Russia. He said this in a memo, writes Reuters.
The memo was sent to Mondelez International employees on Thursday, June 15th. In it, Vincenz Gruber commented on the boycott of the company in Scandinavia due to the preservation of work in Russia. Mr. Gruber called the boycott “difficult.” He added that he is deeply saddened by what is happening to the Mondelez brands in these countries.
“It’s hard for all of us to see that our company is singled out and treated differently than other companies, despite the realities of the situation. If you look inside most kitchen cabinets, you will see a lot of products from food and beverage companies that did not come out of Russia,” Vincenz Gruber said in the note.
Mr. Gruber added that if all the brands that still operate in Russia were boycotted, then the world would have a problem with food supplies. In his note, he did not cite specific brands.
Mondelez in March 2022 announced, which will curtail all capital investments in Russia and reduce advertising costs. In May 2023, the Ukrainian authorities included the corporation in the list of international sponsors of the war. After that, several companies in Scandinavia announced Mondelez International boycott. A few days later the company announcedthat will reconsider the operating model in Russia, but will not leave the country.
