Opera singer, People’s Artist of the USSR Medea Amiranashvili has passed away

Georgian opera singer, People’s Artist of Georgia and the USSR Medea Amiranashvili died at the age of 93. This was reported at the Tbilisi State Conservatory.
“People’s artist, laureate of the Zakaria Paliashvili Prize, emeritus of the Tbilisi State Conservatory, winner of the Order of Queen Tamar and the Order of Honor, legendary soprano, Mrs. Medea Amiranashvili, has died,” the obituary says.
Amiranashvili was a soloist at the Georgian Opera and Ballet Theater, performed the main roles in many productions, performed in chamber repertoire, and went on tours abroad. Also from 1991 to 2006, she was the artistic director of the Kutaisi State Opera House, and in 1967-1970 – a deputy of the Supreme Council of the Georgian SSR.
