Russia needs to develop a comprehensive digitalization program, says Vladimir Gamza, chairman of the council for financial, industrial and investment policy, head of the industrial renovation project, member of the board of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. At the same time, according to him, the process of automation of production has not yet been completed in the country.
During the conference “Industry-2023: digital technologies”, organized by Kommersant, the expert cited data from surveys that Rosstat conducts among industrialists. 71% of respondents speak of the need for reconstruction of enterprises, 55% of respondents speak of the need for automation, 35% of respondents are interested in digitalization and new technologies. According to him, this shows that the topic of digitalization is in demand, but it needs to be dealt with “as national programs.” The expert drew attention to the fact that in Russia there is “almost no” R&D (research and development work), machine tool building is poorly developed.
During the session, Yulia Mikhaleva, Deputy Head of Roskachestvo, gave examples of enterprises that have increased their efficiency thanks to digitalization. Among them, she singled out Uniform Atelier (launched a digital clothing factory five years ago, during which time labor productivity increased by 30–35%), SIBUR (launched a project that helped reduce the application processing speed by 8 minutes, which is saves 386 man-hours), Ufa Children’s Clinical Hospital (introduced telemedicine, increased the number of consultations by seven times).
As researchers from the Higher School of Economics and Ural Federal University found out, foreign capital actively contributed to the modernization of the Russian economy, but with the departure of foreigners from the Russian Federation, this potential may noticeably decrease.
