Online cinemas removed the series “Alice Can’t Wait” due to a notification from RKN

The Start video service series “Alice Can’t Wait,” directed by Natalya Meshchaninova, has been removed from the library of Russian online cinemas. TASS The Start press service explained that Roskomnadzor (RKN) identified violations in some episodes of the series.
“According to the notification of Roskomnadzor, certain violations have indeed been identified with respect to some episodes of the series “Alice Can’t Wait”: the series contains information that should not be disseminated in the audiovisual service,” the Start press service reported.
Alice Can’t Wait premiered in October 2022. It tells the story of a 15-year-old girl (played by Elizaveta Ishchenko) who will soon lose her sight. In order to have time to do everything she dreamed of, she decides to quit school, earn money and go to the big city.
At the time of the series’ release, the project received a distribution certificate and the 18+ label. After its premiere on Start, it was available through a partner subscription in other online cinemas, including Okko and Ivi. At the New Season festival in Sochi in 2022, the project was recognized as the most anticipated series. In January 2023, Anna Mikhalkova, who played one of the main roles in the film, received the Golden Eagle in the category “Best Actress in an Online Series.”
