OneTwoTrip: most Russians planning foreign trips for the New Year holidays are going to Thailand

The OneTwoTrip service analyzed the bookings of Russians with a departure from December 31 to January 8. It turned out that interest in traveling abroad increased by 8.6 times compared to the same period last year. Overseas flight bookings accounted for 77.3%. In Russia, flights are planned in 22.7% of cases. This is 75% lower than in 2021. Thailand is the most popular destination.
Leaders among countries in terms of early bookings for the January holidays:
- Thailand (share 38.7% of all orders abroad),
- Indonesia (10.9%),
- Vietnam (10.8%),
- Philippines (5.5%),
- Turkey (5.1%).
Sochi and Moscow became the most popular Russian destinations – 17.3% and 16% of those whose bookings were analyzed by OneTwoTrip will go here for the New Year holidays. Other popular cities are Mineralnye Vody (6.7%), St. Petersburg (5.4%) and Kaliningrad (5.3%).
According to search queries, among the cities of Russia, most often people are looking at flights to Moscow (share of searches 21.1%), Sochi (14.7%), St. Petersburg (13.1%), Mineralnye Vody (5.1%) , Kaliningrad (4.7%), Kazan (2.9%), Makhachkala (2%), Yekaterinburg (1.9%), Novosibirsk (1.8%) and Irkutsk (1.7%).
For foreign destinations, Russians, according to the OneTwoTrip study, are most often interested in flights to Turkey (share of all searches abroad is 16.7%), Thailand (10.6%), the United Arab Emirates (10.4%), Uzbekistan (6.6 %), Armenia (4.6%), Egypt (3.6%), Maldives (2.9%), Belarus (2.8%), Azerbaijan (2.7%) and Georgia (2.4%) .
