Russian oil companies have begun delivering oil to the port of Kozmino in the Far East by rail, as the capacity of the East Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) pipeline cannot cope with increased demand in this direction. This was told by a Vedomosti source familiar with the data of traders, and confirmed by an interlocutor close to Russian Railways. The volume of deliveries through the Russian Railways network in January, according to one of them, amounted to about 80,000 barrels per day.
Oil has not been delivered to Kozmino by rail since April 2016.
