The head of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Shulginov, said that Russian oil companies promised to provide fuel supplies to farmers during the sowing period in the country. According to him, industry representatives made such a promise during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.

“The topic was discussed with oil workers in the government. On Friday, Novak discussed with all companies, first of all, to ensure supplies to agricultural producers. The companies promised some specific figures,” said Mr. Shulginov on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum taking place in Vladivostok (quoted from TASS).

The department expects the market to be filled with domestic fuel in the coming days after the completion of repairs at Russian oil refineries, the minister added. Fuel production should increase “very soon,” he said.

On September 6, Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev announced the risk of disruption to the harvesting campaign and sowing of winter crops due to a shortage of fuels and lubricants for farmers in some regions. In particular, to stabilize the situation with diesel fuel at the Federation Council asked farmers of Stavropol region. According to Mr. Patrushev, initially it was only about high prices for fuels and lubricants, but now the very availability of fuel is in question. The minister also proposed a temporary ban on the export of petroleum products until the situation stabilizes.
