Oil pumping to Hungary via the Druzhba pipeline resumed

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that the pumping of oil through the Druzhba pipeline had been resumed. So far, oil is being pumped under low pressure, and technical work is being carried out on the pipeline. Transneft also confirmed the resumption of oil pumping through the pipeline.

“Technical work has been completed and crude oil supplies to Hungary via the Druzhba pipeline have been resumed at the moment under low pressure,” said Peter Szijjártó during a press conference in Belgrade. According to him, “technical work is being carried out on the pipeline to ensure the restoration of supplies at completely normal pressure.”

The largest Hungarian oil and gas company MOL reported that the reason for the suspension of oil pumping to Hungary was the shelling of a transformer station near the Belarusian-Ukrainian border by Russian artillery. It provided electricity to the pumping station of the oil pipeline. Due to the suspension of oil transportation, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban convened emergency meeting of the Security Council. Peter Szijjártó said that the transformer station was easy to repair.

On November 15, Transneft reported that Ukraine suspended pumping oil towards Hungary due to a voltage drop. There were also suspended oil supplies to the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

As stated in the Russian Ministry of Defense, on November 15, a “massive strike with high-precision weapons” was dealt to Ukraine. Because of this, 30 infrastructure facilities were damaged, said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Denis Monastyrsky. On the same day, fragments of a rocket fell in the Polish village of Przewodow near the Ukrainian border. As a result, two people died. The Polish Foreign Ministry said that the missiles were Russian-made. Ministry of Defense of Russia claimsthat the images of the rocket were identified as the wreckage of the S-300 of the Ukrainian Air Force.
