According to Kommersant, Gazprom is discussing with Rosatom the possibility of building floating nuclear power units (FPU) with a capacity of up to 116 MW to supply energy to fields on Sakhalin. The company is also considering the use of four floating power units for the fields of the Tambey cluster in Yamal. According to analysts, the cost of building one nuclear power plant could be 45–50 billion rubles. Experts note that the economics of building traditional thermal power plants using gas turbines look better, and the choice of nuclear units is associated with the unavailability of equipment.
