Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak commented on media reports that Poland expects to continue receiving Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline. Mr Novak called these plans “a theater of the absurd.”
Polish state company Orlen counts continue to receive Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline in 2023 in the amount of 3 million tons per year, Kommersant found out in mid-November. At the same time, the Polish authorities announced their intention to refuse such supplies.
“We believe that this is the theater of the absurd, what they are doing,” the Deputy Prime Minister said to this (quote from the agency “Prime”).
From March Orlen stopped buy spot shipments of Russian oil, but continues to receive supplies under long-term contracts with Tatneft and Rosneft. On December 5, the EU embargo on sea shipments of Russian oil comes into force, but it does not apply to transportation through the Druzhba.
