Not a single ship with Russian fertilizers has been sent during the grain deal since July 2022, the UN focal point said. The poorest countries received 10% of corn and 40% of wheat that were shipped from Ukrainian ports as part of the deal, the center added.

“The agreement of July 22, 2022 also allows the export of (Russian.— “b”) fertilizers, including ammonia, but not a single ship with fertilizers was sent as part of the initiative,” the center told RIA Novosti, noting that the export of fertilizers depends on the situation with the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline.

During the year, low-income countries, which include Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen, received 2.5% of the food transported under the deal, according to the UN. This is just over 822 thousand tons out of more than 33 million.

The grain deal was concluded in Istanbul in July 2022. Later it was extended several times. Now it is valid until July 17. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation earlier explainedthat the second part of the grain deal – the Russia-UN memorandum on lifting restrictions on the export of Russian agricultural products – has not yet been implemented.

June 7 at the Russian Foreign Ministry reportedthat the restoration of the damaged ammonia pipeline Togliatti-Odessa will take up to three months. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation accused Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups of undermining the ammonia pipeline.

On July 13, answering a question from Kommersant journalist Andrei Kolesnikov, President Vladimir Putin declaredthat Russia may suspend participation in the grain deal if the conditions set for it are not met.
