Finnish company Nokian Tires warned, which will send 350 workers involved in the production of passenger car tires on unpaid leave starting next week. Thus, the company intends to adjust tire production volumes taking into account the ongoing strikes in the country. As noted in a statement from Nokian Tires, finished products are piling up in warehouses, and due to the fact that employees of transport and logistics enterprises are on strike, it is not possible to deliver the produced tires to customers.

Forced leave will begin for workers on March 26 and will last at least until April 9. If the strikes do not stop during this time, Nokian Tires may extend unpaid leave for workers; by law, such leave can be up to 90 days. The manufacturer does not report how much production volume will be reduced during this period.

Currently, about 7 thousand members of the SAK workers’ union are on strike in Finland. Protesters are demanding that the government cancel the planned labor market reform. The reform, in particular, provides for simplifying the procedure for dismissing workers and limiting the right to conduct political strikes. During the last round of negotiations between representatives of the SAK trade union and the Minister of Employment Affairs Arto Satonen, the parties failed to reach an agreement. As a result, the union announced the continuation of the strike until the end of March.
