Nissan extended the suspension of the work of the St. Petersburg plant

Until the end of the year, the suspension of the plant of the Japanese concern Nissan in St. Petersburg will be extended, reports Reuters with reference to the publication Nikkei. It was planned that the production, which has been idle since March, will resume work in September.

The main reason for the suspension was the lack of components and problems with the supply of parts from Japan and Europe. Nissan assembles Qashqai, X-Trail and Murano SUVs at a plant in St. Petersburg. In June, the governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, said that the owners of the plant were behaving very worthily. “They pay employees at least 2/3 of the average salary. No one is laid off or fired except on a personal request,” he said.

June edition of Kyodo reportedthat the suspension of the concern may last until October this year. Initially, it was noted that the plant will resume work not earlier than April 30 – later the launch dates were repeatedly adjusted. In May, Nissan announced the suspension of car production in St. Petersburg until 2023.
