On Monday, August 29, an exhibition of photographs by Nina Shatskaya opens at the Russian State Children’s Library. At the opening there will be the singer herself, who will tell the young guests of the exhibition about her works.
The place for the exposition was not chosen by chance: photographs by Nina Shatskaya will also be of interest to children. The pictures show portraits of people, photographs of animals, as well as landscapes from all over the world. Among the works of the singer are many children’s portraits, as well as photographs depicting baby animals. It is about them, about where and under what circumstances these pictures were taken, that the author wants to tell the children.
It must be admitted that hobbies that are not related to the main occupation are very typical for Russian stars. But not all of them bring their hobbies to fairly large projects, which become known to the general public. The singer owes her passion for photography to a large extent to her other passion – travel. The singer likes to recall in an interview how she literally lived in airports and sometimes spent no less time on distant wanderings than on tour. But if Nina Shatskaya’s concert trips take place mainly in cities where there is a demand for songs and romances that she performs, then on private trips the singer prefers wild nature.
“I dreamed of seeing the countries of Africa, visiting Indochina and India, I was attracted by Latin America, and, of course, I dreamed of traveling to the far borders of Russia, especially to the northern and eastern regions. Fortunately, my dreams were destined to come true. For many years I have traveled to corners of our planet far from civilization,” says Nina Shatskaya.
We all bring a lot of photos as a memory of our trips, but the places visited by the singer, of course, inspire us to capture as much of what we see as possible. Such trips to the ends of the Earth, where civilization has not reached in the understanding of the resident of the metropolis, are not always comfortable. But Nina Shatskaya is one of those people who are ready to forget about the usual hotel comfort and perfect infrastructure for the sake of unique experiences.
“I stayed in tribes, watched how people survive in the most incredible conditions, how they coexist with wildlife, wildlife. I saw how lions and killer whales hunt, how pelicans fish and fur seals feed their kittens, ”recalls the singer.
Nina Shatskaya managed to capture all this with a camera. As a result, the footage became the basis for two books, called Lust for Life and Colors of Life. Designers Dmitry Metelkin and Olga Lnyanaya provided the singer with great help in working on them, who also became the curators of the exhibition, where the most striking pictures are presented.
“I was lucky to see the beauty of the Earth, to understand that any blade of grass, any animal, plant, person want to live and are filled with THIRST FOR LIFE. Here are my favorite shots that stopped the moment!” – says the singer and invites everyone to feel this thirst for life at the exhibition of her works.
The exposition will run until September 12.
