Among those who remember with particular pain the Georgian actor Vakhtang Kikabidze who died today is his friend, artist Nikolai Burlyaev. Colleagues were connected not only by work, but also by special personal relationships.
– I met Vakhtang a long time ago when he toured with the Orera ensemble. We became friends. He was already very popular in our country. These were the 70s. Then our friendship grew stronger. We often met with him, he came to visit me, I visited him in Tbilisi. I remember such an episode when I was visiting him there, Vakhtang showed me his apartment, paintings, paintings on the walls, and I lingered a little longer near one painting “Old Tbilisi” than at all the others. He immediately removed it from the wall in front of me, wrote “For memory” on the back and gave it to me! He was a man of a very broad kind soul. Then there were difficult times for me (somewhere in the late 70s), then I was in disgrace and, as an actor, was banned. I turned to him for help to borrow money. And he, without hesitation, gave a serious amount (later, of course, I gave it away). He then helped me a lot, and our relations were always warm. Then I read in the press that Kikabidze has a negative attitude towards our country, where he received everything – the love of our people, titles, etc. But we did not raise this topic in conversations …
The last time I talked to him was last year, when I congratulated him on his birthday, on his birthday. Sent him a text and got a reply.
He was an amazingly generous, kind, sunny person, all this can be seen in the images that Vakhtang showed on the screen. They are sunny, joyful, full of humor. These images will live on our screen, and his political views, relationships – he took all this with him, the main thing that remains is his images. Those who knew this man will have the brightest attitude towards him.
