Director Nikita Mikhalkov urged to close the “Yeltsin Center”
The chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation, Nikita Mikhalkov, proposed closing the Yeltsin Center. The director spoke about this at the session “Besogon and the Law” within the framework of the XI St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
According to him, the first thing young visitors to the Yeltsin Center see is a historical cartoon about the history of Russia, where everything is depicted in black. “The light in the window is only one person who came and changed everything,” Mikhalkov said.
The director focused on the fact that he has nothing against the existence of a museum of the first president of the Russian Federation in the country. But, in his opinion, visitors should not be convinced of the hopelessness of Russian history and the “holy nineties”, which made everyone happy.
Mikhalkov noted that the museum does not need to be physically destroyed. “Let them make a museum of modern history, but honest,” said the director.
