The head of the All-Russian Federation of Physical Sports Nikita Nagorny said that the Russian analogue of the FIFA game is at the development stage. According to him, the process of creating a simulator could take several years.
“I know it is already being developed. The agenda was not to ask the president to develop it, but to ask him to support the initiative. Because Gazprom is already developing an analogue, and I hope that we will see it soon,” Mr. Nagorny told the agency TASS.
On February 21, a former football player of the Russian national team suggested that Russian head of state Vladimir Putin create an analogue of the simulator. According to him, this will keep children interested in football.
At the beginning of March 2022, FIFA game developer Electronic Arts announced the suspension of product sales in Russia and Belarus. At the end of November of the same year, the company completely left Russia. In August 2023, Kommersant wrote that SMP ESports, owned by Boris Rotenberg, intends to begin developing football and hockey simulators within three years.
