Mobile operator MTS (MOEX: MTSS) will cancel fees for Internet distribution on all tariffs until the end of February 2024. MTS notified the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) about this, they reported press service departments.
Taking into account the time required to implement the FAS instructions, the agency extended the deadline for the mobile operator to comply with the requirements. Thus, MTS will configure the tariff plans of all subscribers no later than February 29, 2024. The FAS also stated that the abolition of fees for Internet distribution cannot be considered a basis for increasing the cost of tariffs.
September 18 department demanded from the “Big Four” to cancel the fee for distributing the Internet from mobile devices. The agency threatened operators with cases of violating antimonopoly laws. In October MTS notified FAS, which does not consider charging for the distribution of Internet traffic to be an infringement on the interests of subscribers. The company said it does not plan to comply with the department’s recommendations.
