Moscow Exchange reported record investor activity in September – Kommersant

In September, transactions on the Moscow Exchange (MOEX: MOEX) were concluded by more than 3.5 million private investors, which is 117 thousand more than in August. The share of individuals in the volume of trading in shares was 81%, in bonds – 30%, in the spot currency market – 17%, in the derivatives market – 62%. Over the past month, private investors invested 67.7 billion rubles in bonds and 24.8 billion rubles in shares.
The most popular in the portfolios of private investors in September were ordinary and preferred shares of Sberbank (29.5% and 7.3%, respectively), shares of Gazprom (16.6%), LUKOIL (13.8%), preferred shares of Surgutneftegaz “(7.1%), shares of Norilsk Nickel (6.7%), Rosneft (5.6%), Yandex (5.5%), NOVATEK (4.4%) and Tatneft (3.6%).
Among debt securities, private investors chose for investment bonds of Sberbank, VTB, substitute bonds of Gazprom, OFZ and Eurobonds of the Ministry of Finance.
The number of individual investment accounts (IIA) in September amounted to 5.66 million, an increase of 37.4 thousand. IIA turnover was recorded at 258.8 billion rubles. In the turnover structure, 86.2% were transactions with shares, 5.6% with bonds and 8.2% with fund shares.
