Moscow exchange intends to obtain a license from the FSB for the use of cryptography

The Moscow Exchange plans to obtain a license from the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia to work with cryptography to protect against cyber attacks. The corresponding license has already been issued to the Moscow Exchange by the Federal Service for Technical and Export Control (FSTEC), Sergey Demidov, Director of the Department of Operational Risks, Information Security and Business Continuity of the exchange, said at the Financial Congress of the Bank of Russia.

“We even went and received FSTEC licenses to create a laboratory. We plan to obtain licenses from the FSB to work with cryptography,” said Mr. Demidov.

The head of the department said that in 2022 the Moscow Exchange was under DDoS attacks for more than 400 hours. He noted that this year the figure will be higher, but the exchange has adapted and continues to work stably. Mr. Demidov said that in the first half of the year, the Moscow Exchange was subjected to more than 50 thousand attempts of fraudulent attacks, but the platform has learned to work with it.

The director of the department noted that he “won’t even talk about the amount of phishing.” “Phishing attacks were both non-targeted and targeted, and just mass mailings that tried to mislead employees. Fortunately, it did not end in anything for the attackers, ”he concluded.
