Morgan Stanley CEO Gorman announces resignation from bank

Morgan Stanley CEO James Gorman has decided to step down from his post. He announced this at the annual meeting of shareholders, writes The Wall Street Journal.
It is specified that the new CEO of the company will be selected within a year. Until then, Gorman will continue in his duties and thereafter, he will become executive chairman. According to Gorman, the board of directors has already selected three strong candidates for the post.
According to the newspaper, co-presidents Ted Pick and Andy Saperstein, who oversee Morgan Stanley’s institutional securities and wealth management divisions, respectively, as well as head of investment management Dan Simkowitz, could become the new chief executive.
Gorman was born in 1958. He joined Morgan Stanley in 2006 and took over the bank in 2010. In 2011, he also became chairman of the company’s board of directors, replacing John Mack, who has led the bank since 2005.
