Cash in 2022 was still a popular form of savings for Russians, it was used by more than a third of citizens (36%). This should from a survey conducted by the Central Bank. In addition, many used cash to pay for goods and services (27%).
Almost a quarter of respondents (24%) paid in cash out of habit. A smaller proportion of respondents (23%) believe that cash is more readily accepted in stores, others (11%) believe that cash is more protected from digital risks.
However, more and more Russians prefer non-cash payments (79%). Supporters of cashless payments believe that the card is easier to carry (55%) and that it allows you to make remote transactions (34%). The mobile bank is used by 38% of citizens, the fast payment system – by 18%.
