More than 30 Russian companies are planning IPOs in 2024–2025 – Kommersant

The IPO market has intensified in Russia: more than 30 companies may conduct an initial public offering on the Moscow Exchange in 2024–2025, said Dmitry Kalaev, director of the Internet Initiatives Development Fund (IIDF) Accelerator at conferences, organized by the Kommersant Publishing House. According to him, the entry of large corporations to the stock exchange is of increased interest among venture investors.
“Last year there was an increase in IPO activity. Many technology companies entered the market, which attracted additional interest from venture investors, as well as companies with a large number of retail investors. Now pre-IPOs are becoming quite widespread, when not billions are attracted to a company, but hundreds of millions, and hundreds of retail investors are attracted to such transactions. In fact, the IPO driver pulls the venture market with it,” said Mr. Kalaev.
In April, Director of the Moscow Exchange Stock Market Department Boris Blokhin reported that the platform plans to introduce the Smart Allocator service for IPO organizers, which will allow creating different scenarios for allocation (distribution of securities during IPOs and SPOs between different groups of investors). The exchange plans to introduce the service within the current year.
At the end of March, the main event on the stock market was the IPO of Europlan, the largest independent player in the car leasing market. Demand for the initial offering exceeded supply by more than ten times. The shares were placed at the upper limit of the initial range (825 rubles), and the company itself was valued at 105 billion rubles. This is the 4th public offering of shares on the Russian market since the beginning of the year and the 12th since 2022.
In 2023, the Moscow Exchange hosted 9 IPOs and 4 SPOs worth more than 140 billion rubles. According to experts, the increase in the number of IPOs on the Moscow Exchange was due, among other things, to the high interest in them from retail investors.
